With a length no longer than 1300 feet, surrounded by cliffs and high hills – it allows only smaller planes to land and take off! (Un)fortunately, the airport is closed for jet aircraft due to the shortness of its runway! However, it is a real pleasure to see these skilled pilots as they land and take off. The shortest runway airport is called Yrausquin Airport and it is situated on the Caribbean island of Saba.
Even though it is closed for jet traffic, it is nothing unusual to see an airplane here. Most often, you can spot a DHC-6 or a BN-2 – since they are smaller.
