Australian pilot Matt Hall was flying the Red Bull Windsor air race when after tackling an obstacle, he flew his plane a little bit too close to the ground.
Not having executed the flight section well enough, he skimmed the water top with the tip of his wings and also his rear landing gear and part of the tail of the airplane. Of course, with Matt`s military training and experience, he was able to recover from the would-be devastating accident without any big damage. He explains how he actually experienced this because he broke one of his own rules – he looked back into the turn and lost his continuity in flying the airplane. However, with his awesome recovery we can all take a giant breath of relief.
This Windsor air race almost got really tragic, but thanks to Australian pilot Matt Hall and his level-headed approach to flying, everything ended really well. His wife was in the stands, watching him race and she was so terrified when she thought he had crashed, but alas, it all ended well. His team was not able to prepare his MSXR airplane for further action, but we have no doubts that Matt Hall and his giant bag of bravery will be back and will be winning a lot of awards in the future. However, between then and now, this Australian pilot needs to fix a few parts on his plane as it will be unable to fly with things missing. His right aileron and wing tips will need to be changed, but hey at least he survived to compete another day!
