Some time ago, there was a huge issue with many Volkswagen vehicles having problems with the diesel emission. It was found out that many Volkswagen cars emitted much more nitrogen oxide than the originally allowed limit! The German automaker had programmed many of their turbocharged diesel engines to emit less nitrogen oxide during laboratory testing! About eleven million cars were programmed this way, and this whole scandal really shook the Volkswagen Group.
The problem has been resolved since then, and everything is back to normal nowadays. Nonetheless, the video we have for you guys today, shows us the Volkswagen mechanics fixing this particular issue! The Volkswagen emissions scandal resulted with a loss of about a third of the stock price of this German company ! In order to get back on track, the Germans did what they do best, solving problems!
This video shows one of the Volkswagen mechanics, named Sebastian Masgai. He has worked as a mechanic in Volkswagen in Berlin for 10 years. Due to the emission scandal, Sebastian and his colleagues had to take care of the affected cars. They did this in a few steps. First, they had to cover the vehicle`s front end, sides and wings. After covering the car, a battery charger was connected to the engine, to ensure sufficient voltage for the whole process.
This step was followed by connecting a diagnostic tool to flash the engine control unit. “Flashing“ means updating the old software, the one that was responsible for the whole scandal, with the newest version. The time required for the software update to be completed varied between 30 and 45 minutes. If you were affected by this scandal, we recommend you check out this video of the Volkswagen mechanics! Now, sit back and press play to enjoy!
