It might not be common in the United States, but the Volkswagen Beetle was a hit throughout Europe! Over 20 million Bugs have been manufactured, and the model has become an automotive world icon! It is no wonder that this small car found itself in one of the episodes of the Wheeler Dealers! The VW Beetle was the perfect “victim“ for buying and renovating.
What made this episode special is the fact that the Bug was repaired and it was also redesigned into a new car! The Volkswagen Beetle was made to look like a beach buggy!
The final product was the Beetle buggy, and it looks astonishing! Fortunately for us, Wheeler Dealers showed us the whole transformation process! This is why we have not one, but two videos for you guys today!
Watch the second video on page 2!
The first part shows us the disassembling of the VW Beetle. Luckily for Edd China, the very first car he ever worked on was the Beetle, so he has no problems dismantling it. Anyway, Edd needs the chassis of the original Volkswagen Beetle in order to create the Beetle buggy.
This is why everything had to be taken apart. Disassembling the small economy car is a relatively easy task, yet time consuming. After stripping down pretty much everything from the car, the chassis was finally separated from the Volkswagen Beetle! With this being done, the stage for the next part of the transformation was set! Building a Beetle buggy is essentially building a kit car, and you might never know when the next problem might arise.
For this beach buggy, the first problem came from the very first component, the chassis from the original Beetle! The old floorpan was devastated by rust, and Edd had no other choice but to make a new one. What other problems did Edd face while constructing the Beetle Buggy? Watch the video to find out!
