We`ve all seen the typical Hollywood car chases. And they are more or less the same. Either a rushed group of cars crashes into a shopwindow or pass through a barricade, which would otherwise be impossible to pass and get out of it alive. However, these angry cars seem to manage quite well. They get out of the rush with just a few scratches or less. However, there are some scenes that marked the movie industry and now every director tries to copy the very same features. 1. Bullitt (1968)
First on the Top 5 Car Chases list! Builtt is definitely the movie that leveled up the expectations for a quality car chase. Bill Hickman (again) has the honor of driving the raging, muscle Dodge Charger all over San Francisco. The scenes were spiced up with amusing overhead shots from the indoor cameras.
2. To Live and Die in LA (1985)
We can describe this movie in just two simple words: Pure epicness. The car chase that astounded us lasted nearly ten minutes and it happened all over LA: under the freeway, through the notorious sewerage we always see, on the freeway and on many, many side streets. It was brought up in a manner never seen before. Pure perfection!
3. The French Connection (1971)
William Friedkin is the man who made the chase between the Pontiac Lemans and an elevated subway train in Brooklyn look like a piece of cake. It was Oscar-winning type of good movie.
4. Ronin (1998)
If there is one thing that Ronin shall be remembered for is definitely the amazing car chases. In order these rushes, slides and crashes to look as astonishing as they do, 300 stunt drivers had to risk their lives. Moreover, Jean Reno will be remembered as the one actor who made Peugeot look like a good ride.
5. The Seven-Ups (1973)
Last on the Top 5 Car Chases list! If you are fans of Pontiac duels then Philip D`Antoni is your man! He surely knew how to make the best out of two raving cars in an adrenalized scene. The best scene is definitely the one in which Bill Hickman (the stunt driver) oversteers his Grand Ville under a tractor-trailer, but luckily the driver remained unhurt.
