It seems cars haven`t been as environmentally friendly as they were back in the days of the Flintstones. And though eco-friendly options have been around for some time now, there`s been a rise in awareness for their impact on the environment. Plenty of automakers have already pledged to go electric. While Tesla is a well-known name in the electric game as their lineup is fully electric, they will soon have competition. According to Car and Driver, GM is aiming to get rid of diesel and gas vehicles from it`s light-duty lineup by 2035, also planning for an entire carbon neutral lineup by 2040. Nissan, Mitsubishi and Mazda with their electric cars have also said they plan to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Though it`s clear that automakers are moving towards electric vehicles in the near future, will consumers be on board as well?
A study by MRO Electric broke down the cost of driving electric over gas. The team says they collected life expectancy and legal driving age from the World Population Review, the average miles driven in each state from the Department of Transportation and the national average fuel efficiency from the Environmental Protection Agency to find out how much consumers could save by driving electric vs. gas over the course of a lifetime.
Though noted in their key findings that no matter where you live in the U.S. you`ll save money by switching to electric vehicles, they did find that some states could save more money over a lifetime than others.
It has been noted that electric cars greatly impact air quality. In towns and cities across US electric cars are being adapted. Governments all across the globe are trying to completely switch to electric vehicles within a few years. Tesla is a giant in the electric vehicles industry.
Not only is driving electric easier on the wallet, it`s easier on the environment. So whether you`re looking for an electric vehicle now to save money, or planning on it in the near future, it’s apparent that they will become more mainstream in the next few decades.
The United States will try to achieve the net-zero target within the next decade. It is a piece of great news if you are living in Wyoming. It is the state where you can save the most by having an electric vehicle while protecting nature and mother earth. According to various researches, the carbon emission from electric vehicles is 17-30% less than the than driving a petrol or diesel vehicle. This is a major difference, that can create a huge impact. Another good news is that the batteries used in electric cars are being reused and recycled.
Researchers across the globe are looking forward to drive more ways to reuse and introduce new technologies in electricity storage. The day is not far when we all will have batteries in our homes that will be used to store our own energy. This will drastically reduce the impact of battery manufacture, petrol, diesel, carbon emission on the environment.
