We have seen just about anything when it comes to cars used to break world records in terms of speed. But, none would expect to see a car that is legal to be driven anywhere, to break such record. Yet, this is possible in theory and one man decided to put this to the test on an actual run. The car he will be using is the mighty Street Legal Ford GT, and it is one of the most powerful street legal cars you have ever. This monster is able to make as much as 2700 HP. There are many records you can break with this car, Johnny Bohmer was aiming for one thing in particular.
He wanted to become the first driver to ever hit 300mph using a street legal car. What you are about to see in this video is one of his test runs that serve just as a warm up for the real thing. But, despite this being one of the best Ford GT out there, Johnny`s life could have been in danger due to a simple mistake.
Namely, on a standing start and in just mile he managed to hit whooping 292mph, but then something shocking happened. The parachute that is installed in the back and used to lower the speed of the car as it stops down, broke. Johnny and his mighty Street Legal Ford GT were left without it.
