To many of us when we hear something about the Queen Elizabeth II, the first thing that pops into our minds it that she became the longest reigning queen of England last year in September. But not many of you know that way before she became the longest reigning queen, she actually was an amazing driver. But how did it happen and when it happened? Well, in fact when Queen Elizabeth II was an 18 years old girl, she joined the Women`s Auxiliary Territorial Service during the World War II. There she was trained to become a mechanic and a military truck driver where from she gained tons of experience and became brilliant driver.

There is also a very interesting anecdote which was retold by the former British ambassador Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles. The story tells the time when the Queen was visited by Saudi Arabia`s Abdullah bin Abdulaziz back in 1998 in the Balmoral estate in Scotland. There when Abdullah bin Abdulaziz got inside the Land Rover together with his interpreter was utterly shocked. The Queen was supposed to sit next to him, but instead of doing that, she sat at the driver`s seat. She turned on the engine and took off with the car.

Women are not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia so this was an amazing experience by an even more amazing driver, though rumors say that he was a bit scared as the Queen gained speed. Did you know that Queen Elizabeth II was such magnificent driver?
