As most of you already know, the Tappan Zee Bridge had been shut down and a new one was built nearby. Over the years this bridge has been the best way to cross the Hudson River in New York and thousands and thousands of vehicles have crossed it each day. But the government decided that it was time for a change and so they came up with a plan to build new one nearby. This meant that eventually, after the new bridge was completed, the Tappan Zee Bridge is going to be closed.
And so it happened and one classic car marked the event and became the last car to have ever crossed the Tappan Zee Bridge. It had to be something special and a very special car was chosen to do that. The 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton was the car that crossed the bridge for the one last time. The brand new bridge named the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge had cost the authorities staggering $3.9 billion. It was a mega build and it was marked as the biggest in the nation project.
The 61 years old Tappan Zee Bridge did a great job of being the connection over the Hudson River so now it is time for the new mega structure to take its course and serve the nation. This shifting of the traffic had happened just couple of days ago, on the October 6. What do you think; will the new bridge be better than the legendary Tappan Zee Bridge?
