The Land Rover Defender and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon are two fantastic archaic vehicles and both are cult classics when it comes to off-road. That would be British and American, respectively, of course. These two off-roaders are excellent for a trans-Atlantic off-road showdown. The current Jeep Wrangler Rubicon body style is around since 2007 with its 3.6 engine. The Defender on the other hand, we can`t be really sure, you might need a paleontologist in order to determine how old that chassis really is. Nevertheless, it doesn`t matter if you are a Jeep or a Land Rover fan, you will probably agree that both of these trucks are classics and timeless machines.
This comparison puts a slightly modified Jeep Wrangler Rubicon against a stock Rover Defender 110. Having said that, both of these trucks are long-wheelbase variants. Both of them are running the same Goodrich tires as well. While these trucks are not identically spec`d, they are close enough. So, this comparison mainly focuses on off-road issues that happen in the real world. We also think these issues are not discussed enough so this makes this showdown pretty interesting. There is much discussion on differentials, traction and approaching different angles as well. However, we wish there was more discussion on range and payload. Nevertheless, it`s a pretty good comparison. Check it out in the video below.
