Paper airplanes have marked everyone`s childhood. We all knew how to make one and competed whose one was going to fly the furthest. But Luca Iaconi-Stewart, a 25-year-old artist from San Francisco, is a MASTER at making them. Namely, he created a paper airplane model of the 777-300ER completely out of manila file folders. He managed to replicate most of the planes functionalities such as the thrust reversers, the moving flaps, the tail fin and the opening doors just by following the design principles on the real plane. This model is based on the Air India Boeing 777 who runs on the biggest and most powerful engine, the GE90115B.
He created the interior very precisely and went on making the tail fin and the horizontal stabilizers. He is currently working on the wings with all the flaps and slots. He uses pictures and videos found online to help him recreate the paper airplane model. His model includes a precise scaled version of the GE engine inside with its fan blades and thrust reversers. Luca started working on the project 9 years ago, and hopes he will manage to finish it completely in a year or two. What an inspirational story this is!
