Hyundai Motorsport officially announced Juho Hänninen from Finland as one of the test drivers for 2013 WRC Championship. Test drivers are an essential part of the development programme of the team. The drivers must be with all the experience and necessary skills in order to develop a reliable and competitive car in a short period of time.
In 6 months Hyundai will develop with its i20 WRC at the first race, Rallye Monte-Carlo in January 2014. Hyundai Motorsport started and intensive test programme to develop its WRC car on all conditions and terrains. Juho Hänninen has won the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, FIA Super 2000 World Rally Championship as well as the FIA European Rally Championship in 2011 and 2012. So, there is no doubt he will be a valuable asset for the team for the new season in 2014 FIA World Rally Championship.
Very soon Hyundai Motorsport will announce the second test driver and the official drivers for the 2014 season will be announced at the end of 2013.
Michel Nandan, Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal said that background and experience of Hänninen will contribute to the project a lot. He explained their decision to start working with different drivers with capabilities and unique skills this year, so they expect valuable feedback for 2014.
Juho Hänninen said that he is very delighted to be a test driver of Hyundai Motorsport team and to work in their testing programme for 2013 and it is a very good opportunity to work for a manufacturer closely and to give the contribution to this huge challenge.
