One Veloster has already Entered the History of Rally Car!
In cooperation with Red Bull and Rhys Miller Racing, Hyundai launched the Hyundai Veloster last year. Everybody and particularly fans of racing were impatient to see before it was unveiled. One Veloster has already entered the history of rally cars. It was the Veloster coupe driven by Rhys Miller, a champion in auto racing at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show. But that`s not all! Hyundai and Miller continue this project and are constructing another Veloster rally car that will be driven by Marcus Dodd, rally champion and Robbi Maddison, a record freestyle motorbike rider at the Summer XGames.
However, there are plans for a third Veloster rally to be constructed that will be part of the 2WD class competition and will participate in limited number of U.S. Rallycross Competitions and first class drivers were introduced it to the public. The vice president of Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America said that they are all very excited by the introduction of this new Hyundai rally car which is quite entertaining and a perfect match for rally fans and drivers.
Mr. Miller added that the excitement is omnipresent and that he is looking forward to promoting this rally car that has undergone certain technical changes.
Specially built Chassis!
All possible techniques for producing race autos known to 12 workers in the company were used so that the Hyundai Veloster rally car is properly made. One of the interesting processes included the car having spent 5 days at an Alkali bath so that it rids off the adhesive and the rubber.
Carbon/Kevlar Dody Panels!
Even though the Veloster had already been a light car, the engineering team decided to make it even lighter. So, they replaced the sheet metal with Carbon/Kevlar and not, a lot of parts of the car, including the doors, hood, front and rear fascia etc. made the Veloster 25% lighter. Since the hood is constructed to deplete heat the car has curb weight of 2,656 pounds.
Race Car Interior!
Since we are talking about a racing car it is understandable that Veloster rally is not alike at all to its siblings. There are practical gadgets due to the presence of the firewall as well as the safety cage that are necessary for full protection of the rally driver.
Custom Suspension!
Because rally cars have a lot of jumps during races, the RMR Red Bull Hyundai Veloster rally car has a custom suspension.
Wheels, Tires and Brakes!
As far as brakes are in question Veloster rally car has fourteen inch Alcon brake rotors and 6 piston Alcon clippers. The wheels used are eighteen inch HRE wheels and 245/40-18 Hancock tires. The car`s color is a mixture of white, orange and blue designs.
