Hyundai Motor has nearly completed its manufacturing plant in Turkey, where new production of the model i10 will star in September 2013 for the European and Turkish markets. HAOS (Hyundai Assan Otomotiv Sanayi ) will double its capacity to more than 200,000 units.
One year before the start of the $609 million expansion announcement, the press, new test line, doubled trim shops and automated body shops with robots will be completed. Production of the new i10 has been moved forward to the end of September for the European and Turkish markets.
Won-Shin Chang, HAOS President and CEO said this Hyundai Motor expansion will contribute to Turkey`s economy by creating new jobs and export plan based on 180,000 units by 2015.
More than 30 new Korean suppliers also invested in Turkey and they are hard at work for the new i10 production. It is expected only this investments to create about 775 new jobs at Turkey Plant HAOS and the whole new project should create more than 2,800 new jobs, so the total employment together with its suppliers will reach 6,300.
With the start of the i10, together with the current i20 production, the Hyundai Assan plant will become base for the small car production in Europe. These two Hyundai models will be exported mainly in Europe and to more than 30 countries in the world. The expected annual delivery should be more than 160,000 cars in 2014 and around 180,000 units by 2015.
