Even though we write mostly about car racing and performances, every now and then we like to share a helpful video. Today we wanted to share one video that explains how two stroke engine works! While heavy machinery is mostly suited for a 4 stroke engine, pretty much everything else utilizes a two stroke engine. The advantages a two stroke engine offers are plentiful, and this video explains many of them really nicely. First and foremost, they are much smaller than the 4 stroke engines, but they still are powerful despite their small size. Furthermore, they can operate in any direction, as long as fuel flows into the carburetor.
This video explains why this type of engine is popular, and it also explains how two stroke engine works. The key to the two stroke design is a piston that acts as a piston, an intake, a compressor and an exhaust valve. These types of engines have ports instead of valves, and the spark plug fires once for each crankshaft rotation. That is twice as often when compared to a four stroke engine.
