history duramax diesel engine

The variety of modern engines installed in cars these days is huge. You can choose based on your needs, but logically the price will vary. However, no engine has proven to be more durable and robust in the last two decades than the Duramax diesel engine. It simply offered car manufacturing companies a stability, which made many people to fell in love it. It all started in 1998 when General Motors and Isuzu got the idea to create something new. They wanted to have the first high-pressure common-rail, direct injection powerplant. And guess what? It took them just two years until the first such engine hit the US market, on July 17, 2000. The first Duramax diesel engine was manufactured in Moraine, Ohio. And its production has not stopped ever since. Namely, over 2 million units have been manufactured, leaving that many customers satisfied.

Even though many had doubts, DM alongside Isuzu managed to beat both Ford and Dodge with the production of the Duramax diesel engine. However, there have been some changes even to this model. The first generation had 300 HP with 520 lb/ft torque, whereas the second one had a slight upgrade. It came out in 2004 and it had 10 HP more power. However, the great change happened in 2006 when the `06 model was introduced. The engine had massive 360 HP and 650 lb/ft torque, enough to put its competition behind. The goodies just kept on coming and coming each year and GM tried to improve the engine even more. As a result, we are currently witnessing a Duramax diesel engine with over 400 HP, which offers every customer something that they have always wanted to have! It is an absolute legend in the car business!
