Do you remember this Giro Boat tested in Glasgow, Scotland at 1961?
Actually the Scottish water skiing champion Dougal Campbell first tested this intentional Giro Boats. They were concept boat with helicopter blades attached who were able to take off and fly above the surface of the water, while still was attached to the boat. However, this boat must first reach the speed of 20MPH before gets out of the water. As you can see on the video below, there are 2 types of Girp Boat models, one probably produced by Evinrude and the other produced by Cameron & Campbell.
The main designer of this very cool invention from the early 1960’s was John Hofstetter. This 26 year old designer adjusted and fitted the propeller to the boat and succeeded to make the first flight in the first attempt. Check out the video to find out how these boats can fly.
I think I can use one of these concept boats for the race at the Bluewater Classic at the Oak Bluffs Marina at Massachusetts!
What do you think about this pretty cool invention? Can you please share your thoughts with us in the comments section below? Also, please share this amazing post with your friends and family on Facebook.
