When it comes to funny Star Wars skits, this one has to take the cake. In 2009, while filming Paul, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost tried to do a shot-for-shot remake of the entire Star Wars trilogy.
However, their plan turned sour after just one scene – the one in this video. Cue the dramatic music and let`s see what it`s about! Well, R2-D2 and C-3PO are walking through the desert and the latter inquires into the meaning of life for him and his kind – a dark beginning for what`s supposed to be a funny skit, I know. However, R2-D2 replies with a series of bleeps and bloops, which cuts the scene with Simon Pegg asking his partner a simple question – what the hell is wrong with you?!
This funny Star Wars skit then continues to devolve into a conversation about R2-D2`s language, C-3PO`s awareness about the rest of the Star Wars universe and its history (which he, for some reason, does not remember even though he was a big part of it, having been built by Darth Vader and whatnot). I really like the guys` costumes and I`d love to see the Star Wars trilogy filmed scene-by-scene by these two guys with the cardboard cutouts on their heads and bodies. It`s bound to be hilarious, and it will take some of the edge off the serious Star Wars storyline. Not that it needs to be changed, but a different viewpoint critical of the plot such as this one might act as a way to
better understand what the writers behind Star Wars were actually saying.
