Many remember the Carnival Triumph cruise ship which is infamous for leaving thousands stranded at sea and living in squalor for days after an engine failure.
However, the problems don`t stop here for the notorious cruise ship. Just two months later after the previously mentioned incident, that same ship was blown away from its Alabama mooring by high winds while it carried 800 crew and contractors. Due to the high winds, the cruise ship broke its moorings and drifted over across the Mobile ship channel. It can be seen having a small collision with the Army Corps of Engineers boat and a deck barge.
The result of the collision was a giant gash to the back of the ship and some other dents. At least four tug boats had to lasso the 900 foot cruise ship and slowly ease it back into its dock.
Eyewitnesses said that the wind came out of nowhere and a couple of portable restrooms were seen flying by. The incident happened while the ship was undergoing repairs. Fortunately, no one was hurt in this dreadful occurrence, but most certainly the panic among the people onboard was huge.
We hope that in the future no more mishaps will happen to the Carnival Triumph cruise ship.
