First, he waxes the disk a little bit so that there wouldn`t be any sparks and the process would go as smoothly as possible.
After that, he gradually nears the machine to the spinning disc, turning it into the desired shape with incredible care. It`s wonderful to watch how every angle in that otherwise normal top is made.
After the first few curves on this brass lamp top have been made, the guy starts pushing the machine a little bit more inwards, so that the lamp top starts to take its intended shape. Slowly, it turns from a disc into a cone as the machine pushes inwards and to the side of the disc, all the while maintaining its perfect fit on the beginning of the lamp top.
When this is done, the job is pretty much over – your new brass lamp top has been created and is waiting for you to turn on your lights.
