Atlanta’s Classic Car Community Cruises in for Coffee and Chrome

If you are a classic car lover, there is nothing better than coming together with like-minded people to enjoy the beauty of vintage cars. For Atlanta, Georgia residents, there is no better event to showcase your love for vintage cars than Coffee and Chrome. But this event is not limited to Georgian residents, so whatever part of America you are from, you are welcome to participate. However, you will want to understand a few things before participating in one of these classic car community events, especially if it is your first time.

What Is at All About

Coffee and Chrome is an event organized in Atlanta, Georgia, by the Atlanta Classic Car Community to bring together classic car lovers every last Saturday of the month. Coffee and Chrome date back to the early 2000s when a group of Atlanta-based classic car enthusiasts started organizing events to showcase their classic cars and share their experiences with like-minded people.

With time the group grew to become the Atlanta Classic Car Community which organizes several events throughout the year, including Coffee and Chrome. The event is held on large parking lots where classic car owners bring their cars to showcase and enjoy the company of other owners. You do not have to own a car to attend the event, as it is a public event with no entrance fees.

What to Expect

The event takes place in the morning from 9 am to 12 pm. So if you are traveling from far, it’s best to travel to Atlanta a day earlier. The event is child and pet friendly making it an excellent stop-by activity before heading out to other activities of the day.

There is something every member of the family will enjoy with cars on display ranging from classic muscle cars and hot rods, classic sports, and vintage luxury vehicles from all famous classic car makers such as Ford, Porsche, Chevrolet, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, and Ferrari. A food truck also serves coffee and snacks as you enjoy your day.

Besides admiring classic cars, visitors can also participate in the event by entering their classic cars into the show. Entering Categories that attract the most participants include muscle cars, sports cars, and luxury cars. The winning car owner in each category gets prizes that help add fun to the event.

High Traffic Increases Your Chance of an Accident

No matter what route you take or how careful you are, it is not possible to avoid the possibility of an accident while you are on the road. This is because you cannot control the actions of other drivers or prevent your car from developing mechanical problems that could get you into an accident.

With the Coffee and Chrome event attracting vintage car enthusiasts from across America to Atlanta, Georgia, there is bound to be increased traffic on the day of the event, further compounding the problem of increased traffic in the city.

The good news is that you may be eligible to recoup compensation if you get involved in an accident while attending the event, especially if you are not at fault. However, you may want to involve a car accident lawyer in your car accident case to better your chances of getting fair compensation for the damages suffered.

Most Dangerous Roads in Atlanta Georgia

Atlanta is connected to six major interstates, which explains its high volume of traffic and accident rates. Some roads have been seen to be more dangerous than others. If you are new to Atlanta, identifying these roads can help you stay alert while on the road and minimize the chances of an accident.

Interstate 285

I-285 is among the top 10 busiest interstates in the country and the most dangerous in Atlanta. According to statistics, the interstate is used by over 2 million drivers daily. Trucks are the number one thing you will need to watch out for if you are driving along this road.

Depending on your direction of travel, you can use alternative routes such as Forest Parkway/Flat Shoals Road, Mt. Vernon Highway, and The Downtown Connector to avoid the often chaos on this road.

Georgia 400

The greatest danger on Georgia 400 is the high volume of traffic. The congestion on this road is so bad that the North Fulton Community Improvement District is building other roads to divert some of its traffic.

Interstate 85

Interstate 85 has always had a problem with high traffic volumes, making it among the most dangerous roads in Atlanta. The road has seen several lane extensions to ease the traffic over the years but remains heavily trafficked, especially during rush hours.

Several alternative routes run alongside this road, so you may consider one of them to avoid this road. These alternatives include U.S. Highway 23, U.S. Highway 123, and Highway 29 in Atlanta.

Other Dangerous Roads

Other roads where you may want to exercise extra caution include I-75, The Tom Moreland Interchange, the curve at the intersection where I-285 and I-75 meet, the curve at the intersection of I-285 and I-20, and the intersection of Delmar Court and Delmar Lane, among others.
