The Hyundai Genesis won the North American Car of the Year Award at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.
This model was eligible for the top prize and represents a very big leap for Korea car manufacturer.. The Genesis is Hyundai’s attempt to reach drivers from the upscale, while this company is working on its brand’s roots with lower-cost models.

The 2012 Hyundai Genesis is a luxury sedan with rear wheel drive. This model is available with several engines:
-- 3.8 V6, 333 hp with 291 lb-ft of torques. This engine took the Hyundai Genesis from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 sec. EPA- fuel economy is 18-city/28- highway and 22- combined (mpg).
-- 4.6 V8, 378 hp with 324 lb-ft of torque with regular gas and the second option 385 hp with 333 lb-ft of torque (premium). Its estimated fuel economy is 16/25/19 (mpg).
-- 5.0 V8 (and R-Spec trim level), 429 hp with 376 lb-ft of torque. The R-Spec goes from 0 -- 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. Its estimated fuel economy is 16/25/18 (mpg).

Standard
17″ wheels are coming standard in the Genesis, as well as the auto headlights, fog lights, heated outside mirrors, sunroof, 8-way power driver seat with lumbar support, keyless entry, cruise control, 2-zone automatic climate control, 4-way power passenger seat, heated seats, leather package, Bluetooth and a 7-speaker satellite radio sound system with iPod and USB port.
Premium
The Premium trim level adds 18″ alloy wheels, automatic wipers, folding side mirrors, a power steering wheel, leather dash, door and consoles, driver seat memory, power rear sunshade, rear parking camera, GPS -- navigation system with real time option, a Seven-inch touch screen and Lexicon surround-sound system with 14 speaker with DVD player.
