As we all know Formula1 engines are very expensive and difficult to maintain, which is the main reason why there are no daily drive cars with such engines.
But is this true? Did you know that there are cars, though not many, which are equipped with Formula1 engines and can be used as your daily drive? But having such engine means you would have to warm up the engine before you take it for a spin. In the following video we feature 8 cars which have Formula1 engines. The list starts off with the Porsche Carrera GT which was in production from 2003 to 2007. Little do many people know that this car was actually developed only because a secret engine was built by Porsche for an F1 racing team, but it ended up sitting in the shelves rather than in the F1 cars.
That is the main reason why the Carrera got its 5,7l engine installed in the production model. The list is followed by the Ferrari F50 which was under production for only couple of years, from 1995 to 1997. Its engine was based on a F1 unit with 60 valves. It had 520 HP with torque of 470 Nm. The engine displacement went from 3.5 to 4.7L to improve the cars` drivability. Though this car was never used for racing, it underwent an upgrade to the F50 GT with staggering 720 HP. Check the video below and see the whole list. What do you think, which car surprised you the most being on the list?
