The COPO (Chevrolet`s Central Office Production Order) was invented for fleet sales, particularly when talking about cop cars and interiors of cabs. But, a clever dealer with good connections could sell a 1969 COPO Camaro in this way giving the right codes.
For example the order in 9561 asked particularly for a 427 V8 engine able to produce 425 hp. But, the 1969 COPO Camaro 9560 order was even rarer including all-aluminum ZL V8 engine able to produce power greater than the one of the previous engine just for 5hp In reality, this was not the case. It actually produced 550 hp. ZL1 Camaro was built in only 69 units and the current price for one of them is 400,000 dollars.
Did you know? The all aluminum ZL-1 V8 engine able to produce 427 hp was made only for racing. However, when you see it, it will not reveal what`s under the hood, except from the Camaro badges.
