Sadly, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO used in the shot of the movie “Vanilla Sky” was actually a kit car. This vehicle was built on a chassis of 1976 Datsun Z. However, this fact doesn’t make the famous scene any less worthy.
We realized there was not enough left in the budget for the real Ferrari 250 GTO with stratospheric price. The last recorded sale of one of these rarest car in the world, with 3.0-liter V12 engine that ones belongs to Sir Stirling Moss and is sold for $35 million. The half of amount that Tom Cruise took home for the movie. However, with only 39 built, we would call it money well spent.
However, this car unit was sold for record breaking 44 million dollars!
